[Planet Resilience] Innovation for Sustainable Impact Hackathon is part of the UOB-SUSS Resilience Series – Planet Resilience, empowering students to develop innovative solutions that strengthen environmental resilience through sustainability and responsible resource management.
Working in multidisciplinary teams, participants will analyse real-world sustainability challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and design practical, scalable solutions that create meaningful environmental impact. Along the way, students will gain exposure to industry insights, receive mentorship from experts, and strengthen their innovation, problem-solving, and pitching skills.
Whether you are passionate about sustainability, entrepreneurship, engineering, data, or simply want to make a positive difference, this hackathon offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers, engage with industry partners, and transform ideas into impactful solutions for a more sustainable future.
Hackathon Theme and Format
The hackathon challenges students to turn real-world sustainability data into actionable solutions. Participants will be provided with SUSS electricity usage and operational data and tasked with identifying inefficiencies, uncovering opportunities for improvement, and proposing innovative solutions that can be applied within SUSS and potentially scaled to benefit organisations across Singapore and beyond.
Students will work in multidisciplinary teams of 4-6 members, combining different perspectives and skill sets to analyse the data, develop practical and impactful ideas, and refine their solutions with guidance from mentors and industry experts.
The hackathon culminates in a Demo Day, where teams will pitch their solutions to a panel of judges, focusing on environmental impact, feasibility, innovation, and scalability. The programme is designed not only as a competition, but also as a learning experience that exposes students to sustainability challenges, data-driven problem solving, and entrepreneurial thinking.
